What is PageRank?
Posted on 21. May, 2010 by Shaylee in Link Building, SEO
PageRank simply means that each link to your website counts as a vote, but because of the mass amount of spammers, Google has added additional factors that can prevent you from achieving a higher PageRank.
This post was inspired by one of my mentors that talked about how to achieve a higher PageRank in less than 12 months.
Watch the video below to learn how to achieve a higher PageRank FASTER by taking these additional PageRank factors into consideration!
Relevant Links
In order to achieve a higher page rank it is important that you begin to gain links from relevant content around the web. The more relevant, keyword rich links pointing to your content, the higher PageRank you can potentially receive.
Authority Links
To achieve higher 'authority' in search engines you need to have a large amount of relevant links pointing to your content. If you have a ton of links pointing to your content that are unrelated it can prevent you from achieving a higher authority in search engines…thus a lower PageRank.
Trust Rank
Trust Rank evaluates they types of web sites that you are linking to. It's important that you link to high authority (high PageRank) sites so that you can be trusted as a reliable source.
'Reverse' TrustRank
Make sure you don't link to 'spammy' non-trustworthy sites or you could potentially lose trust within the search engines and your community!
I would love to hear from you! Please leave your comments below and share how you are going to start using this technique! If you enjoyed this post please be sure to tweet it to your friends or facebook it!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Shaylee,
Thanks for breaking down this page rank issue. I know this has been a question from a bunch of my students. We know that a good page rank takes a bit of work to achieve and looks real good, but what are the real benefits?
The socail proof is great, the athority site certainly comands attention, but are there any other reasons for working hard to increase your PR in Google's eyes?
